Kara, You have all the pieces right in your program. The order might change and reflect the importance of the individual parts, starting probably with academia (or public realm?) and end with support spaces. Some of the numbers however need some back checking: for instance walls and partitions (you might even include that in the area numbers) and certainly studio space. If you peak at the program totals of your colleagues, you will see the grand total being more in the 27,000 SF area.
Kara, It looks like some of your calcs. might be getting high in the circulation and wall areas. I try doing little “test fits” by sketching out the space and circulation that may be adjacent to it. Create a percentage of the corridor to space and that will give you a good idea of the areas needed throughout. Get ready for a great week!
I am getting told the numbers are high. I have used the calculations that my firm is using on a UT project that we are working on. I was looking at the possiblity of phasing the project to show the ability to accomodate future growth...(as we now know the program expects to gain international students)Of course now that we have visited the site, I can see where their may be a problem.
Thank you I appreciate your comment. You are right this would be a great exercise to visually see the scale. :)
