Kara, super start! You always have new ideas, I understand from your diagram that you bringing up the Idea of levels and how various levels of areas could compose a good building symphony!
Roof garden? looks like you suggesting a vertcal axis, your rough diagram works in more than 2 axis.
Defining the spaces and their relationships in the 3d scale is very helpful in your studies as long as you dont take it to a more detailed level.(too close to be a design decesion in this early stage). as i see the green area and the studio space.
looking forward to see where is this going?!! sounds very intersting.
Thank you for your insightful comments. Yes, I am interested in levels in relation to user space. Vertical is important to me because my fondest memories of the previous semester is of the view from studio of the Boston rooftops. And how enjoyable it would be to be in studio viewing the city and a roof garden directly below.
Kara, I like your creative use of a 3d modeling program. The old-fashined bubble diagram is brought into the 3rd dimension - a possible first step for formulating a building is made. I would like to see more detail description in the classroom and living quarter portion of the program (similar to your description of the recreation facility). How do you propose to furnish the classrooms? (uncomfortable) stools? How do you organize the living quarters? Any shared spaces? I'm also missing SF numbers assigned to the individual spaces and a grand total. These SF numbers might inform the size of your bubbles and reshape the diagram?
You are correct. If you view programming 1, you will see that I have run into larger areas than expected; thus a much larger building. I will give this more consideration in addition to the more detailed furnishings...
