Good overlay of the original “Back Bay” coastline – your site would have had a great view of the water. Something interesting seems to be happening in the plan of the southeast corner – needs 3D view from Mass Ave. Also, the wavy line in plan intrigues – I keep thinking that you want “waves” in your building façade or is it just landscaping? How to express water in the buildings – waves, ripples, transparency, reflections, movement, etc. Good view from Boylston for working on the approach. Try from Berkley School also? The most interesting view is the birdseye from the southeast – the water entrance is special – don’t loose this at the grade. Make the water more vertical with cascades? A wet wall wash? Make it work in the winter (ice?). And try not to block it with building?
Thank you. I was also intrigued by the original coastline. I was thinking last night as I was working on the project that the building may provide heat to the pond?? The pond area is right at the building; I envision similar treatment that Ando used for Ft. Worth Modern. I spent some time trying to find details of the water feature yet to no avail as of yet.
